PolyBrite International, Inc., a Chicago-based company specializing in energy-efficient LED lighting systems, has made a significant step toward global collaboration and sustainability. On March 11, 2011, the company inked a Technical Cooperation Agreement (TCA) with the Federal District Government of Brasilia, Brazil. This marks the first such agreement signed under the administration of Governor Agnelo Queiroz.

The partnership will focus on establishing energy-efficient street lighting systems in Brasilia, an initiative driven by the Federal District's goal of implementing these advances before the 2014 FIFA World Cup. As part of the agreement, PolyBrite will contribute to job creation both in Illinois and in Brasilia.

"This is just the beginning of an important relationship between PolyBrite and the Government of Brasilia. We see Brasilia as the launching pad for PolyBrite’s energy-efficient products to be distributed throughout the South American markets", said Carl Scianna, President and CEO of PolyBrite International.

A Green-Tech Hub in Brasilia

An integral component of the agreement is the development of a high-tech LED lighting system assembly facility in the Federal District of Brasilia. This facility will focus on assembling PolyBrite’s proprietary energy-efficient LED products for deployment not only in Brasilia but across Brazil and South America. The company’s LED systems aim to deliver better light quality, reduce energy consumption, and lower overall costs, aligning with global sustainability goals.

Illinois Delegation Behind the Agreement

The agreement is the result of a business delegation visit to Brasilia, which included notable representatives from Illinois. Among them were Carl Scianna and former United States Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert, representing PolyBrite International, alongside Bruce Graham of Johnson Controls, Inc. and Edward Mattox of Inland Electric. The delegation met with Governor Agnelo Queiroz, Salviano Guimaraes Borges of the International Advisory Office of Brasilia, and other Brazilian business leaders to finalize the partnership.
